CITY OF HIGHLAND VILLAGE
PARK DESCRIPTIONS & SUMMARIES

BRUCE LOCKHART LIONS CLUB PARK

Bruce Lockhart Lions Club Park fronts Highland Village Road and is adjacent to the Wichita Forest Park. The park has a playground structure and a large covered picnic pavilion.  Picnic tables and grills are also available.

CENTEX PARK

This park is located in the Briarhill Subdivision along Shetland Drive.  The park is a passive area that contains interesting native landscape areas.

COPPERAS BRANCH PARK

Copperas Branch Park is leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and is located on the shoreline of Lewisville Lake in the northeast corner of Highland Village, at the I35E service road and Lewisville Lake. The park is 99 acres in size and is open for day use from April to October each year. The admission for day use is $3.00 per car and $1.00 per person.  The park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. An annual pass is available for $ 45.00, which will allow access to the park 12 months per year. The annual pass also allows for free access to special events at the park.

Recreational facilities at Copperas Branch Park include baseball fields, soccer fields, swim area, horseshoe pits, boat ramp, restroom/concession building and picnic tables with barbecue grills. 

Copperas Branch Park is also the home of the annual Highland Village Lions Club Balloon Fest, which is usually held during the month of August.

LOWER SELLMEYER

Lower Sellmeyer Park is a small park located on the east and west sides of Sellmeyer Lane just north of F.M. 407. The park offers a small play area, along with a picnic table and a grill.

MURRAY PARK

Murray Park is an undeveloped park site on Sellmeyer Lane. The Inland Trail will go through Murray Park to provide access from Sellmeyer Lane to the Municipal Complex.

PENINSULA PARK

Peninsula Park is a proposed 16-acre park located off of Tree Haven Court. This natural area follows along the shoreline of Lewisville Lake. Future development plans include the addition of a nature trail, benches and picnic tables.

PILOT KNOLL PARK

Pilot Knoll Park is located off of F.M. 407 and Chinn Chapel road. This park, owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, provides overnight camping for trailers and recreational vehicles, as well as facilities for day-campers.  The park also has a boat ramp and three picnic pavilions which are available by reservation through the Lake Lewisville, lake manager’s officeat (9720 434-1666.

SELLMEYER TENNIS COURTS

This park consists of two tennis courts on the northeast corner of Sellmeyer Lane and Doubletree Drive.  The tennis courts are available on a first come/first serve basis, but they can be reserved through the Parks and Recreation office.

SUNSET POINT PARK

This park is located on the shore of Lewisville Lake of off Clearwater Drive.  Sunset Point is used as a scenic overlook for visual, passive recreational enjoyment.

TURPIN PARK

Turpin Park is a neighborhood park that is located off of Sellmeyer on Turpin Drive.

A play area is available at the park along with walking paths, picnic tables and grills.

UNITY PARK

Unity Park is the City’s community park, and provides many active recreational facilities for residents.  The park is adjacent to Briarhill Middle School, and shares a parking lot with the school. The park contains four lighted baseball/softball fields, five lighted soccer game fields, practice soccer fields, four tennis courts, two concession stands, restrooms, hike and bike trails, two ponds and a fishing pier.

Play areas are abundant at Unity Park. Kids Kastle is an extensive wooden playscape that was constructed by volunteers.  A conventional play area is located in the park along with a fitness exercise system and a sand volleyball court. 

This is a photo of the original Kids Kastle taken in 1994 before the park was destroyed by fire. The Park was rebuilt through volunteer efforts in 2000.

A covered picnic pavilion is located adjacent to Kids Kastle.  Picnic tables and barbecue grills are available at the pavilion.  The pavilion is available on a first-come/first-serve basis but can also be reserved through the Parks and Recreation office.  The pavilion is a very good place to hold a birthday party for someone special.  Picnic tables and grills are also available in the park.

The Unity Tree is also located in the park.  Unity Tree, one of the largest native pecan trees in Texas, is estimated to be over one hundred and fifty years old. A park bench is located under the graceful branches of the tree. This is a wonderful place to take a break from busy schedules.

VICTORIA PARK

Victoria Park is a five-acre park located at the intersection of Sellmeyer Lane and Victoria Drive.  The park consists of soccer fields, basketball courts and a walking trail that is one-quarter mile in length.  Benches and a drinking fountain are also available at this park.

WICHITA FOREST PARK

This 26-acre park, governed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is located adjacent to the Bruce Lockhart Lions Club Park.  The park is a native area and is the habitat for various species of flora and fauna.  There are natural surface trails throughout the park, which allows citizens to enjoy the benefits of this nature preserve.

YMCA PARK

The YMCA park is located at the intersection of Sellmeyer Lane and Highland Village Road, on the shore of Lewisville Lake. The YMCA leases this tract of land from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  This park is the home of Camp T’Sungani, a day camp for children, operated by the YMCA.  The City of Highland Village does not maintain this park.
